I think we should
Posted by ivy | Under Ivy Unleashed Wednesday Apr 13, 2005| I think we should just wipe holidays off the calendar. Atleast mark through them with a permanent marker. Or sleep through them. We did the family thing today at my parents. Sister and BIL came down from Dallas and my dad came over from his house and my grandmother showed up. My husband and kids came with me. It was so much FUNNNNNNNN. My mother and sister act like i’m invisible when they are together. Nothing is ever good enough for the both of them. My sister is use to “Living large” and thinks the world revolves around her. My mom has always let her think that. Family get togethers are way overrated. It always ends up in a fight. Someone gets mad at someone and they end up yelling and screaming and the kids end up confused. Yeah dysfunctional spells out my family really well. My parents were going to get a divorce. They live in separate houses, different towns, yet they “Date” and call each other all the time. I would be happy for them if things were actually getting better. But they are no closer to knowing what they want or need and still no where near fixing the problems they have. The issues are stacked up higher than the ceiling. They just keep avoiding what they need to work with. Then you’ve got my sister who is married to a man who loves her but isn’t for sure he wants to be married or have the responsibility of a family. Which MIGHT be okay if they didn’t have 3 kids to care for and raise. Stability isn’t even in their vocabulary. They move more than I rearrange my furniture. Well these get togethers are always fashioned with my grandmother showing up. Who doesn’t want my parents back together and cant stand the fact that they aren’t divorced yet. YET she shows up to the “family” get togethers which in turn infuriates my mom b/c she knows my grandmother doesn’t want them together. Its all really amusing. Dysfunctional yet amusing. Don’t think for a second im the exception. The crap just starts at my house long before we even leave for the family get togethers. I could go into detail about my own marriage but that would take forever.. | |||
