Who knew…
Posted by ivy | Under Ivy Unleashed Saturday Aug 20, 2005Who knew going to the first grade would be so exhausting.. And i’m just the mom! All week I did car pool. Carried 3 or 4 giggling girls and one “Im too tired, I dont wanna go” boy to school every day. Everyday on the way to the school I grilled the girls (all 1st graders) on their spelling words. I was confident that all of them would come home with 100s on their papers. I had worked so hard and so did they. Friday I waited on the edge of my seat for them to come bursting through my door with their papers in hand. Girl 1 and Girl 2(neighbors) made 100s.. Diva however made a 90. I really expected it as she had heck with the word Where. She misspelled it all week. Only friday morning she knew the word. On her spelling test she spelled it were. However all week long she spelled it uhere. So atleast she got the w .. .lol..
Bug already wants to quit school. He doesnt like getting up in the mornings..He actually gets dressed with out a problem. Diva is the one I have hell getting dressed and ready. But bug.. He just screams and screams that he doesnt want to go.
OH! And school has only been in a week.. 1 week! and they sent a fundraiser home. And its NASTY NASTy cookie dough. They want us to sell something that just makes people fat. People do not want to buy it because it tastes like garbage.. Why cant they sell something that people need or want? There are a ton of companies that offer fundraisers. hell we havent even had a PTA meeting yet..
Anyone elses’ kids schools do this?
If it’s the same “English Bay” cookie dough that we sold, it was AWESOME! Especially the white chocolate/macadamian nut variety! My kids (big as they are) love it. They can make their own.
yes we do cookie dough too .I am still trying to figure out why this private school is having fundraisers ..This school is making a killing .We start our first spelling tests next week .The drilling will begin …lol We do like you do and drill her while in the car to and from school .
We are not in school yet… I think return date is Sept 6. Grade one for my son and preschool for the girls.
We do the cookie dough order too, but ours is yummy! Fat galore, but oh so good.
They have me roped into doing a Bingo fundraisor…. um hello, I have never played Bingo in my life.
Yes, our schools do this too. I am sick of fundraisers. I have 3 kids, all in a different school. HS, Middle and Elementary school. I can’t afford any more damn fundraisers!!!! I join the PTA and this year, I am not buying any cookie dough, coupon books, spaghetti dinner coupons, raffle tickets or catalog items. I have had enough!
At least you have something you can eat and it’s gone… we usually have candles or t-shirts or something else that sits around and collects dust until it ends up on e-bay or something!
visiting from Michele’s weekend meet-n-greet!
