Ivy Tied Up |

Interesting today.. yesterday I ran my butt off.. I was up at 5 am and kept going until 8:30 pm. At that point I called hubby on the phone told him to put dinner up that I was going to bed. I was exhausted.

I got up yesterday morning. Cleaned the kitchen, plucked my eye brows, checked email, took a shower, put on make up (which i rarely wear), dried my hair. The humidity was horrible and my hair frizzed and looked like crap so it ended up in a pony tail. Then It curled on its own which has been a frustration these last few years. I’ve neve rhad curly hair. Its been wavy but suddenly in the last year mainly my hair has started curling on its own. And i’m not talking a little curly. I’m talking FULL ringlets down my back. But its not curly near my scalp just half way down which is about 5 to 6 inches worth of c urls.. Would be okay if I could get it to all curly. But i’ve got real big ringlets from about half way to the ends. They are pretty just annoying. Anyhow i’m rambling and off track..
After that I got dressed.. Managed to wake all 3 kids get them dressed (its now 9am) piled them into the truck and off we go. We went to the bank, then I took them to McDonalds so they could use the rest of their gift certificates they got for christmas from cousins for breakfast. I pulled over let them eat breakfast in a parking lot then we went to my grandmothers. We stayed over there for awhile. Watched Madagascar. That was really cute. I laughed most of hte way through it. It was a rather short movie. But the kids liked it.. My grandmother really enjoyed it.
We went through her avon stuff. She gave me a hat and a scarf. Its really cute.. She gave Bug his birthday present(his birthday was at the end of december). He wasnt thrilled as it was a shirt.. Then we left and went to my other grandmothers (it was 1pm by now). My cousin had a birthday party so we were to attend it.. He turned 3.. WOO HOO A big boy now! Its rather odd that my cousin is the same age as my youngest. He is a spoiled rotten little boy who doesnt give sugars or hugs and if you manage to kiss him he wipes it off before you can stand back up. Rotten isnt the word for it.. But he is a cutie non the less.. He got alot of toys for his birthday. Only he wasn’t interested in them. he was interested in a tv game he got. Which aggrevated me because he could have cared less about his other toys. He tried to give htem away becuase he wanted htat game.. To me.. he spends way too much time infront of the tv playing video games.. He just turned 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They had cake, icecream, sandwhiches, and punch. Me.. I did good! I drank a cup of punch and that was it.. Anyhow.. We ran and ran and ran.. We left there and went by the dollar general store because it was raining and I was avoiding walmart at all costs.. When we left I got soaked. It was raining really hard and the kids were being difficult.. i ended up soaking wet! And it was a cold wet! I got home..d ecided to order pizza. They have one delivery driver. I ordered pizza at 5:30 because of the delivery time (an hour and half). At 7:30 they called me and told me that the delivery guy had been bitten by a dog that if I could come get it that they would give it to me for free.. I didnt want ot leave again. By that time.. Sugar was sound asleep on the couch. I was still freezing from being wet and the other two had already changed clothes. But the choices were to go get it or cook dinner.. So I loaded them up and off we went.. I got my pizza for free and it was still hot!!! I was surprised.. I figured it would be cold.. by the time we ate and everyone was ready for bed it was 8:30.. I never go to bed that early but exhaustion seems to be the word.. I’m running on zero..
Sugar climbed into my bed at 5am this morning. She wouldnt go back to sleep. She just kept talking and poking me and clapping and taking my covers and and and.. So we laid there until 7;30 and finally I got up.. She was starving.. She fell asleep last night with out eating dinner and she wo uldnt wake up and eat. Right now.. I’m ready for a nap or bed.. Not going to happen right now.. I’ve alot to do still.. Thats about it..

My mom plans on buying me a cake for my birthday. I told her not to. I dont need a cake.. I’m avoiding it due to my weight watchers. I can eat it.. b ut its just not worth it..

Thirteen Things about Ivy 1…. I’m so tired. So tired its not even f unny. All I can do lately is sleep and sleep some more. 2… . I thought I had found a contractor to come give me a bid on our damages from hurricane rita so I can get some much needed things taken care of. But apparently not as he hasnt called or came by. GRRRRRRR… 3… . My nose is itching and it wont stop! Its starting to drive me crazy..And I think scratching it is a really stupid thing because i’m starting to rub the skin off.. 4… . My sisters birthday was yesterday. I had talked to her that morning and forgot to wish her a happy birthday so I emailed her because she was at work and couldnt talk on the phone anymore and wished her a happy birthday. She is 25 now.. She emailed me back laughing and said.. “you’re next! Atleast we are the same age for a week huh!” I replied with ,”Yeah i’m next.. I’ll skip righ tover that day please” 5… . Found out my hubby has to work tom.. This is great as in overtime will be wonderful. BUT I needed the truck and he will probably have to work ALL weekend now. 6… . I havent been able to get around to many blogs this week. And I feel bad about that! I really do! Not only that but I miss reading them. Sometimes i’m surprised. I really like blog hopping. I’ve just been too tired lately to get up or even sit at the computer. 7… . The biggest obstacle has been these stupid Eye spasms. My left eye has been spasming for a few weeks now and its gotten worse and worse every day. To the point of where I c ouldnt sit at the computer. I tried wearing my glasses and resting my eyes more but the spasms were still there and are still there. But since i’ve been resting more this week they arent as bad. I probably need to go see the eye dr but thats not an option until dh gets paid again and bills get caught up more.. 8… . I think I should have us pulled out of our financial hole in Feb. Maybe by 2nd week i’ll have that hole filled in. I’m hoping. Money has been so tight I havent been able to buy many groceries but we are getting by. It helps that I don’t have to buy meat at the store… 9… . About not buying meat at the store.. I don’t know how many of you know this.. But we don’t buy our meat at the store. The only thing I do buy at the store meat wise is lunch meat. Everything else.. Well my husband kills our meat. He hunts. We eat well.. They (hubby and the kids) deer meat and pork. me? I tend to eat alot of veggies instead because well.. I dont like pork for the most part and I dont like any meat fried at all. It makes me sick and thats how dh likes his meat.. Fried so that it clogs your arteries and will one day kill you. 10… . I’ve started to worry about what I eat and put into my body and how I feel. Hubby on the other hand.. Is still shoveling hwatever he wants or thinks he needs into his body with no restraint. Know whats funny though. He gets stick to his stomach ALOT. As in daily. Its what he puts into his body but he wont listen to me.. All that grease.. Do you really think its good for you? Little debbie after little debbie..Do you think thats good for you? He says he can eat what he wants and not gain weight.. Um yeah buddy.. That belly you got.. didnt just grow there over night and for no reason. Now he isnt exactly over weight. He is over weigh tcompared to what he use to be.. But he is no where near OVER weight. he will be if he keeps eating like he does. 11… . Apparently I pissed of a guy who calls himself Fred. He left a nasty comment on my blog.. Good thing all my comments have to be approved. Seems he was coming here looking for porn and didnt find any so he left a nasty lil comment calling me names and what have you. He is probably a pedophile who didnt like what he found when he got here.. 12… . My closest friend found out her dad has prostate cancer. The survival rate is good. And the stats are encouraging but I’m so scared for her and her family. I know she is hurting inside. She is always so strong. So put together but I know this has her really frightened and i can’t help but hurt for her. 13… . Its almost the weekend. Ford Cutting 25,000-30,000 Jobs

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) _ Ford Motor Co., the nation’s second-largest automaker, said Monday that it will cut 25,000 to 30,000 jobs and idle 14 facilities by 2012 as part of a restructuring designed to reverse a $1.6 billion loss last year in its North American operations.

The cuts represent 20 percent to 25 percent of Ford’s North American work force of 122,000 people. Ford has approximately 87,000 hourly workers and 35,000 salaried workers in the region.

Ford shares rose 68 cents, or 8.6 percent, to $8.58 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Earlier Monday, Ford reported earnings of $2 billion in 2005, down 42 percent from last year’s profit of $3.5 billion. It was the third straight year the automaker has reported a profit, but gains in Europe, Asia and elsewhere were offset by a loss of $1.6 billion in North American operations.

Plants to be idled through 2008 include the St. Louis, Atlanta and Michigan’s Wixom assembly plants and Batavia Transmission in Ohio. Windsor Casting in Ontario also will be idled, as was previously announced following contract negotiations with the Canadian Auto Workers. Another two assembly plants to be idled will be determined later this year, the company said.

The other seven facilities that will be idled were not immediately identified.

A total of 14 facilities, including seven assembly plants, will cease production by 2012, Ford said.

“We will be making painful sacrifices to protect Ford’s heritage and secure our future,” Chairman and Chief Executive Bill Ford said in a statement. “Going forward, we will be able to deliver more innovative products, better returns for our shareholders and stability in the communities where we operate.”

The No. 2 U.S. automaker after General Motors Corp. has been hurt by falling sales of its profitable sport utility vehicles, growing health care and materials costs and labor contracts that have limited its ability to close plants and cut jobs. The United Auto Workers union will have to agree to some of the changes Ford wants to make.

This isnt going to be just a few jobs lost. Thats a lot of jobs lost! This is going to hurt those families. I’d like to thinkt hat the reason Ford’s sales are down is because of gas costs going up and more people going to a “less gass guzzling, more affordable” vehicle. It could be Ford’s history of having big recalls and the fact that when your vehicle hits a certain mileage the dash lights all come on and you have to take it in just to have them turned off. Then you are charged for that. When there is nothing wrong with your vehicle. It could be that everything that goes wrong with it is never under warranty. And the fact that ford is getting worse and worse about that. Not to mention the new body styles of the trucks (which they have been known for (atleast here in Texas) just really suck. Such a poor word out of my vocabulary but there isnt another word that fits right there..

I grew up in a Ford only family. And what i’ve stated seems to be true. My husbands family was also Ford only. My grandfather was a ford salesman. And it seems to be the truth.
The first vehicle my husband and I bought that was brand new.. A ford f150 super crew cab.. WAY more trouble than what it was worth. Everytime something went wrong it was never under the manufacturers warranty. It always just fell slightly out of the grasp of the warranty. We were sent several recall notices. They were suppose to change the parts for free. BUT they didnt have a new working part ready for the last recall. The recall notice said to bring the truck in and they would turn the feature OFF since they hadnt come out with a correction to the problem. How lovely is that? quality craftsman ship? No.. It once was.. At one point it seemed you could go forever and not have a problem with your ford pick up truck Now days.. You are in the shop frequently. Atleast this is my experience and those I have spoken to..

I feel for those who will lose their jobs. I feel for their families. Thats alot of workers out of work. yes its over the next few years to come but even then.. Knowing your job could be gone. UGH! Not to mention how long do you think some of them have been there? ALONG time i imagine..

If Mayor Ray Nagin is the best new Orleans has to offer then I really hate to see the rest. He was voted into office and his intelligence level scares me. He certainly didn’t take PR in school. At the city hall in New Orleans on MLK day he showed his intelligence level..

After stating that hurricane Katrina and Rita was a message sent from god he then turns around and insults himself as well as many other people. Not to mention our nation and everything we and Dr King worked for. He is an insult to his people as well as his race.

Nagin, who is African American, also promised that New Orleans will be a “chocolate” city again. Many of the city’s black neighborhoods were heavily damaged by Katrina.

“It’s time for us to come together. It’s time for us to rebuild New Orleans — the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans,” the mayor said. “This city will be a majority-African American city. It’s the way God wants it to be. You can’t have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn’t be New Orleans.”

I don’t even know what to say to this. Chocolate?????????? And this man is MAYOR? Their leader???????
Come on people the best thing you can do for yourselves and New Orleans is get this man out of office! He has done nothing but embarrass himself since Katrina hit. And to say that god wants it to be a majority african american city.. All i can do is shake my head and shake my head.. This man has no business speaking out on MLK day!

Nagin described an imaginary conversation with King, the late civil rights leader.

“I said, ‘What is it going to take for us to move on and live your dream and make it a reality?’ He said, ‘I don’t think that we need to pay attention any more as much about other folks and racists on the other side.’ He said, ‘The thing we need to focus on as a community — black folks I’m talking about — is ourselves.’ ”

Nagin said he also asked: “Why is black-on-black crime such an issue? Why do our young men hate each other so much that they look their brother in the face and they will take a gun and kill him in cold blood?”

The reply, Nagin said, was “We as a people need to fix ourselves first.”

Nagin also said King would have been dismayed with black leaders who are “most of the time tearing each other down publicly for the delight of many.”

Now the man is delusional.. Quick someone call the psych ward.. They’ve got a straight jacket that will fit him i’m sure.. How about we take care of community and not color. He really has no business being in office, or speaking on MLK day. Calling his people CHOCOLATE? And by his people I don’t mean black or white. I mean people in the city of New Orleans. Its sickening. He is preaching the opposite of what MLK worked for!

Of course this was asked back in November and I’m late as usual but better late than never.

Now I’m from the south. I’ve been born and raised in SE Texas my entire life. I’m still here. Occasionally I feel stuck and want to run away. But I can’t imagine anywhere else that my kids could swim,hunt,fish, ride 4 wheelers, play outside, and live with out the constant fear of something happening to them in their own yard. See I live down a very private road. We are surrounded by hunting club land. Meaning nothing but woods almost all the way around. I live off a lil road that is nothing but family. They can go down the road to the neighbors house to play and I don’t have to worry about someone taking them because no one can get down here. I can call and ask has diva gotten there and already know the answer. I can open my front door and not worry about someone walking in who is a stranger. Its very private land..

Now anyhow. The responses to the question posted amused me to say the least. of course there were the few who rebelled and told the truth about what its really like. Then there are those who live by the same old stereo types. I’ll quote a few..

Southern for me is friendly people. Down here in the South everyone smiles, waves or gives out a hello or two.

Being Southern means that you smile at folks, wave to neighbors and civil servants, and always speak kindly and respectfully. ‘Yes ma’am’, ‘no sir’, ‘thank you’, and please’ are engrained as automatic responses. Southern means always conduct yourself as if the Almighty is watching you. (That cuts down on the regrets you may have later). Being Southern is being proud of where you’re from and keeping in touch with family and friends.

But Southern to me means instant best friends everywhere you go. Being southern means having an incredible ability to withstand humidity and mosquitos. It means going to the 24-hour Wal-Mart when you’re bored. It means swinging off the rope swing into rock quarries. It means understanding what good bbq is. It means running into at least one person you know at Kroger’s everytime you go. True, it does mean lots of religion and a pretty stubborn streak of social backwardness, but while you’re there at least you get plenty of smiles and great food.

southerners ARE more friendly than in most other regions of the country, although they are just as likely to falter in morality as anyone else.
at least people here do acknowledge each others’ existances in friendly hellos and with help in times of need, and they care enough about everyone to try to teach them what they think is the way to salvation. (they may not be right, but at least they care enough to try.)
in other areas of the country people act like you want to hump their leg if you just say hello……must be a very lonely existance.

Now.. Me.. Being me.. I’ve got to rebel and go against the crowd.. I’ll give you that in the south there are a lot of friendly people. But there are friendly people everywhere. I do not proudly wear a southern label. I’m from the south. I’m not southern. All that means is that I live in the south. It’s not who I am or what I am.
Southern has a dirty label on it. Rednecks, hicks, everyone wears cowboy boots and cowboy hats, drives real big trucks, we all have cows, and dirt roads, we all talk redneck not English, we all eat fried food and grits, ect, ect, ect. The list could go on forever. Being southern is nothing more than living in the south. The old stereotype no longer works. As things have changed. Some people are friendly. But for the most part they are the same as anywhere else. Times have changed. Crime has gone up. I don’t know where the people leaving the comments are from but they are trying to hold on to the old stereotype of what southern is. Living here while not as violent as other places. People over time.. They have stopped talking to their neighbors they don’t always know someone in the store. People have pulled away from the idea of community and replaced it with fear,being busy, and convenience. Now there are those who are still good as gold and southern as it comes “folks”. But since times have changed, crime has gone up, and people worry more about their careers and less about their kids and family, the old southern stereotype isn’t what it was once cracked up to be.

The one thing people think of when they hear “southern” is lack of intelligence. I do not wish to be labeled a redneck. My husband could easily wear that label but I do not wish to wear it. I’m proud of where I’m from even though sometimes I wish to run away. But I’m not a slow ignorant redneck. And last time I checked, most of the people here aren’t either. They are hard working people. Some leave a lot to be desired while others are great. But that’s everywhere..

I still stick to the idea that labels suck. Its kinda like the idea that when someone finds out your a stay at home mom. They assume that you speak in toddler, do the PTA thing, cook every day, ect.. I’m not your typical mom.. Far from it bud.. Sometimes I wish I was.. But I must rebel against the label!

Its raining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOOOOOOO we so needed rain! badly.. Doubt it will be enough to lift the burn bans but we still need rain.. the creek is way low and the river too!

Its been a LONG day.. I took my hubby to work today so I could get some things done.. Well the computers were down where I needed to pay my electric bill.. So that has to be done first thing in the morning. Thankfully entergy knows the computers were down and will give me another day to get it paid.. The bank was closed so that just ruined my plans for the day. I had to go to the grocery store but when I went to leave my inlaws called and demanded I take the truck up to have the front end checked. My fil said he saw a tie rod (I think thats it) loose.. I was ticked because I had to take 3 kids and sit in a shop while they pitched a fit and wiat on them to check the damn front end.. But what really ticked me off.. Was that I had all day to do this. They KNEW the truck was here that dh didnt have it.. And yet they wait until I get ready to go grocery shopping. And I had to pick up dh at a certain time. Well after waiting at the shop for 2 1/2 hours I didnt have time to go grocery shopping I had to go straight to pick up dh..

Know whats funny about the whole truck issue.. There wasnt a thing wrong with it.. NOTHING. They checked everything and nothing was wrong with it.. So I call my MIL and tell her what the guys said. She says.. Okay i’ll call FIL and tell him. I asked her what was s uppose to be wrong with it. She said my FIL climbed UNDER the truck and started pulling on st uff and shaking it and decided some things were loose.. UM OKAY CAN WE SAY DUMBASS!!! First.. I know more about cars than my FIL, MIL, And DH put together! You dont climb under car and start jerking on things and shaking them if you dont know what you are jerking on or shaking. So the only thing wrong with the truck was the dumbass shaking it..

About my electric bill.. There are several things I should tell you about it.. First.. The total is $909.00.. $500.00 is what i have to pay today (its gonna be tom though).. The reason its so high. Is that because of Hurricane Rita hitting I was unable to pay my bill. Then I didnt get the bill for October due to mail and all that junk and all the debris and then I couldnt pay it. Anyhow. Since Rita hit. I havent been receiving my electric bills AT ALL! I have to call them verify the amount and when its due. Well this has become a problem. Because I tend to forget things. But i know i dont want my lights cut off so I’ve been trying to keep up with it. Anyway i’m rambling now.

When I spoke to them In November (at the end of) They set me up on a payment plan to pay off the payments due from around the hurricane. They said it was something they were doing for all those affected by the hurricane who was out of work and co uldnt pay their bills.. (my husband didnt go back to work until December).Anyhow what they did was they would break up the total amount owed over 3 months. They’d tack it onto my next 3 bills. Well I never got a bill for December. They told me to go pay 200$ and I did.. Well now my bill is 909$. 500 is the past due amount. 200 is for the current amount due and 200 is for partial during the hurricane. Now this is my first REAL bill since the hurricane hit. thats why its so high because of hte past due amount. Well no sane person who lives pay check to paycheck can afford 900$. But I do have to pay the 500 because tis the past due amount today (err tom).
I have until Feb 2 to pay the other 400$. Which is good because i’ll have it paid when Dh gets paid again. Feb will be high too. but NOT this high.. So after that I should be good to go. And be back to normal. whatever that is. But they still can’t explain to me WHY I’m not getting my electric bills. They have the right address. They swear that they mailed them. YET I am not getting anything. The good thing is that Since the hurricane.. I havent received one disconnect notice.. They are really trying to work with you on that. Which I think is great. The hurricane put us in a really bad position financially.. We are digging out slowly..

So if any of that made sense thats why my bill is so high..

That’s basically how it goes with 3 kids..Only you don’t yell shut up or else you hear,”That’s not a nice word” and being told by a 5 year old that, that’s not nice.. well after a bad day.. That’s just not nice…

Anyhow..

Today was my dads bday.. well IS my dads bday.. Or was because its now 1:35am and now Officially Saturday morning. Unless you are like me.. You consider it still Friday until you go to sleep.. If I go to bed at 6am.. Its still going to be Friday at 6am. Now when I awake at 10 am.. I’ll officially call it Saturday. That’s just me.. I’m weird like that..

Back to dad’s bday. He is 45 today. I had it wrong before. I thought he was going to be 44. But nope its 45. He argued because that’s what we do when we start getting older. He argued that he was indeed 44. But seeing as how he was born in 1961 means that he is officially 45. My mom says that its not that he forgot. Its that he hit 45 and is now going backwards so his 45th birthday is now his 44th birthday. Fine whatever.. I’ll use that one when I’m 44.. Okay? Its a deal!

I felt like a loser today. I try to get my dad something for his birthday every year. I went over there tonight to take the laptop to him so he can install a new hard drive and new memory for me and do something else he wanted to do. He is sweet like that! I brought him a card but couldn’t afford a gift for him because my electric bill is so high this month and due on Monday. My sister.. She brought him a cake and a really nice gift. It shouldn’t matter I know. But it does. It makes me feel horrible. I should have gotten him something. It’s his birthday. Its not about the gift. Its about the thought. I should have gotten him just a little something. He would have been happy with anything. But I just didn’t have the money to give anything at all. I still feel like a loser though. I know its not a competition but my sister has the money to blow and doenst mind blowing it.

My sister has a birthday on the 25th.. We will both be 25 for a week and then I’ll turn 26 on the 31st. People think that’s weird.. But from what I’ve seen.. Its kinda common.. Happens a lot.

I think everyone I know is having financial troubles right now. I’m trying to dig myself out with ours. But since dh hasn’t been getting a full weeks pay its making it hard.. And my electric bill being over 500$.. OUCH!

Dh and my dad are taking my son to the boat show in Houston tomorrow.. Bug is soooooooooo excited. He can’t wait to go. Tracy byrd is suppose to be there at some point(I really could care less about that..sorry), a playboy playmate is suppose to be there on Saturday from 3 to 7. I’m sure they are looking forward to that although my son is a lil/LOT too young to understand what that’s all about.. I’m not too sure why a playboy playmate needs to be at a boat show but yeah okay.. I could go.. And normally I want to. But let the guys go.. I just want to enjoy some peace and quiet. It will be just me and sugar all day because Diva is at her aunts house tonight.. WOO HOO!!! ALONE TIME.. Sugar doesn’t give me any problems.. She is easy.. She enjoys being with just me.. Where as the other 2.. They are slowly outgrowing that..
