its been one hell of a ride!
Posted by ivy | Under Ivy Unleashed Thursday Jul 27, 2006Well for the last couple of weeks i’ve been suffering HORRIBLE migraines that are leaving me unable to do anything. This week took the cake though! Tuesday morning at about 6:15 my headache hit.. It came on suddenly and VERY Strong.. I tried tylenol immediately.. It didnt help so i tried warm compress.. Didnt help.. Tried cold compress.. Didnt help. So i laid in the tub for 2 hours it helped a tiny bit! Then I got up.. Took a tylenol 3 the dr had given me and laid down hoping to sleep.. Didndt happen.. My head was killing me.. I was in tears and by that point my vision was gone.. I couldnt see.. All i could see was dots everywhere.. Like when you look up at the sun and then look away how you see the spots from it.. like that..
I called dh several times at work asking if he could come home.>i couldnt function. i was vomiting because it was so bad.. He was in the middle of a big job and couldnt leave.. When it got worse I called my drs office. They sent me into Labor & Delivery.. So dh had to leave work to take me in because I couldnt see to drive..
I rode the 35 minutes to the hospital with a blanket over my face and tears rolling down because the pain wouldnt stop.. They hooked me up to all kinds of monitors and determind the baby is fine and my blood pressure was fine. They were concerned my blood pressure was causing the vision to go blurry.. But all was fine..
I was there for 3 hours. They gave me a shot in my bum and it hurt!!!!!!!!!!!! But it was worth it.. very worth it.. I started feeling better with in 15 minutes.. Went home. Ate and laid down.. Didnt sleep too well because the med made me feel like I was on a boat.. I finally dozed off when the med wore off.. I figured that i wouldnt get another bad one like that.. Then I woke up at 3 am this morning! Full blown headache.. Im now waiting on my drs office to call me back. I cant keep dealing with these headaches.. i cant function. I cant see.. I cant keep food down.. And I dont have anyone else to watch my kids for me! There has to be SOMETHING that can be done!!!
I get migraines myself, but fortunately, my prescription takes care of them. I can’t imagine what you’re having to go through…and pregnant, too. Hope they can help you soon.
Oh I don’t envy you i get migranes too my doctor gave me a nasal spray that works as soon as you get the spots in your eyes you inhale it, then take some tylenol. It takes about an hour to work but is well worth it and you don’t get the migraine “hangover” the next day. I don’t know if you can get it where you are i’m in Australia ,it’s called imigran, and i also don’t know if you can use it when you are pregnant, so i’m not much help am i. I hope they find something to help you!!!
OH man girl… how much longer do you have to go???
My BP made me see the spots and my head hurt to the point of tears. I did not have puking though… thank goodness!

Oh Ivy, I am SO sorry you’re going thru this pain. I get migraines but must say, I have never gotten them to this extent & cannot imagine having to take care of little kids when you’re feeling like this. I hope some form of permanent relief is found soon. My heart goes out to you.
