Christmas time again..

Sunday Dec 16, 2007

I loathe christmas shopping. It’s not the giving that bothers me. It’s the push and pull to move down the aisle at the grocery store or any store for that matter. Its how grumpy people become and how rude they become this time of year. The time of year when its about caring and giving and people become just evil! I had to go to the store today for the average run of the mill things that it takes to keep a household of 6 running smoothly.. You know like toilet paper and garbage bags..LOL.. DIAPERS.. And people were unreal.. They were shoving and taking up an entire aisle to look at one little thing. They didnt give a shit that you needed down that aisle. Not one person said excuse me, thank you, please, pardon me, etc. They didnt care!

Anyhow. I’m almost done with my shopping. I’ve got a few people left then the whole Santa things left. I dread shopping this time of year. I’ll get finished this coming weekend after DH gets paid..

It’s a shame that the people who are out shopping so that they can “give a gift of love to someone” are so hateful in the process of procuring it isn’t it? I think the commercialization of the season is to blame…gifts have become expected rather than pleasant surprises…people want specific things rather than getting something that someone had the creativity to come up with on their own…a gift from the heart…whicch is why they were happy when they were shopping for it perhaps!!! I don’t know if that made sense, but shopping has become a duty…of buying what people expect to get rather than surprising them with something from the heart. I think it affects us. I still make some of my presents like the nativity set I made for my son this year. And I don’t ever ask what someone wants. Maybe that’s why I sing when I head out to shop. Sorry you didn’t run into me in the store. I’d have given you a smile…. Hope you have a Merry Christmas.

That is why I did most of my shopping online this year and it really helped to keep me sane. Some of it, though, you just have to get in-person, like the groceries. I don’t know why people get so crabby either — it’s supposed to be the one time that everyone’s nice!
