Hot water heaters and puberty

What does one have to do with the other? Nothing really..
Our hot water heater was in worse shape than we expected. It was only 8 years old and the bottom was completely rusted out of it. We finally managed to get a new hot water heater and all is well in the world of hot water.
Now onto the puberty part of the post..
My oldest seems to be going through puberty. She is only 8 years old! How is this even possible? And no i’m not mistaken. Its really happening. Her being 8 really concerns me but its happening. Acne, body changes, mood swings. Its all there.. All of this and she is too young to understand whats going on with her body. But it concerns her too. Actually it has her a bit freaked out. She really is too immature to deal with this and understand it. I can try to explain it to her till i’m blue in the face but the fact is that she is not mature enough to deal with it or understand it. If she starts her period anytime soon i’m not sure I know how to deal with it. She is just too young for all this. SHE IS ONLY 8!!!!! Puberty crap at 8 is NOT okay. Her mood swings are hard enough to deal with as it is. I know girls are hitting puberty earlier and earlier now but this is just too early. The acne I said okay its normal. The body changes already.. Everyone I know who has older kids. Their kids still havent had the changes my daughter is going through already and their kids are 11-13. Its just too much!
Please stop by my friend Michele’s blog and read her post help for breast cancer.
Have you thought of asking your pdoc about this? I hesitate to even say this, but as to the mood swings, we both know being bipolar is thought to be hereditary; however, it wouldn’t explain body changes or acne. How frustrating for you to try to make her feel comfortable at such a young age. I don’t know what I would do except ask for guidance from my pdoc or therapist.
Hi Ivy, Would you consider referring folks to my blog regarding the breast cancer walk? It is such an important thing for women and I am trying to assist my friend in this endeavor. Thanks. Michele
Wow, 8 is really early but I’ve heard of it happening. It’s so young! I hope there is something that can be done to slow the process. Maybe some random pills? I dunno. Good luck!
Does she drink lots of Milk? I heard of a theory once about the Hormones they inject in the cows to make them produce more milk actually has a bad reaction to young children it makes them go through puberty at a much younger age. But then again, YEARS AGO (late 60’s) my Sister in law had her first period at the age of 9 so I guess it could happen…Usually that can be something to do with genetics. I’d ask this question if you can remember: how old were you when you first started going through puberty? If that isn’t the answer then maybe it “could” be the milk…Just a thought.
Good luck with the hot water heater woes.
Hey Ivy. First of all thanx for not dropping me when I left the BP blogger world for so long. As I commented to Butterfly, I was extremely manic for wile and was in my own head. Not pretty. LOL.
I am glad you have moved your blog. I could never read it before. For some reason it always locked up and I could only read until I tried to scroll down for more. So this is cool. Also I don’t know how I overlooked you on my blogroll, but that is now remedied.
OK, now to the female maturity thing. Remember that I am a guy so most of the knowing that it is happening comes from Ash-wife’s observations and experience. Your post hits right at home for me. Everything that you mentioned about your daughter is currently happening with Ash-girl. She is 9. She hasn’t had her period yet but looking at her you can see her becoming a young women. Ash-wife did start her period at 9 so it isn’t a surprise to us. But my wife said that she was also more mature at that age for some reason. Just letting you know you’re not along here.
Also like Michele alluded to also scares the wife and I. She is extremely moody and you see, she takes after me. It is weird, my son has so many of his mom’s features and Ash-girl after me; not that she looks like a guy or anything. Yet, she has my hand and feet structure among other physical, mental and social traits and attributes. It is so cool to look at both of them and see you and your partner melded together in a life. OK, back to my point. So I kind of feel responsible if she is BP. For her sake, I truly hope this is just a puberty characteristics in my little girl. If not, we will find her support.
Later, Ash out…
